Iconography
During the site refresh of Spectra Laboratories, we identified that the technical information throughout the site required iconography to provide more visual context to copy-heavy blocks.
My approach to iconography design was to maintain a level of simplicity with line work and to utilize the main colors of the brand to give some dimension to the icons. To ensure pixel-perfect application, each icon was created as a vector for scalability across all viewing platforms.
Web Design
Spectra’s refreshed site design was focused on functionality and hierarchy of information in regards to search engine optimization (SEO). For the homepage, we also considered what would exist “above the fold” and how those click points would aid in the navigation to Spectra’s additional services.
During the iterative review process of the site designs, I also tested how simpler animations could be applied to menu links. In doing tests with prototyping tools, this allowed the client to view animation options without any actual live site development needs.
